Murcof - The Versailles Sessions (00:00 - 00:00)

Murcof - The Versailles Sessions

Label: Leaf

Mexican ambient minimalist Murcof is set to release a new full-length, entitled The Versailles Sessions.

Far from being the follow up to last year's critically acclaimed Cosmos
LP, though, the record is a version of a live set that was composed
specifically for the Les Grandes Eaux Nocturnes festival at Château de
Versailles in France.

The source material for Murcof's sound manipulation comes strictly from
specially recorded 17th century baroque instruments, with harpsichords,
flutes and violins amongst the instruments used. Speaking about the
project, Fernando Corona has said that he took a last minute change of
direction close to the project's completion. "When we did a rehearsal
about two weeks before the actual opening, it was pouring with rain so
I wasn't able to make the necessary tests. But being there and seeing
the space and the installations (big disco balls and video projections
on water fountains), I realised I was going in the wrong direction
musically. The location demanded a different approach: more openness,
more time for the sounds to develop and for them to resonate in that
big space, so I went back home and during those remaining two weeks I
reworked the whole commission into what it is now."

Switch & Sinden - Fabriclive 43 (00:00 - 00:00)

Switch & Sinden - Fabriclive 43

Great minds think alike: Fabric have enlisted 2008 RA podcaster Sinden to mix the latest entry in their live series, Fabriclive43.

The duo of Sinden and Switch have held down the Get Familiar night at Fabric for going on two years, bringing in the likes of Buraka Som Sistema, Spank Rock, Bonde Do Role, Kool Keith, Diplo, A-Trak, DJ Assault and Hot Chip
to the club for live performances and DJ sets. Sinden's mix reflects
such varied taste, bringing together house, techno, grime, dancehall,
hip-hop and just about anything that bumps in the night. What you won't
find, though, are many nods to the past. Sinden is unapologetic: "I
decided to make a very current, present-day CD, there aren’t too many
old classics or throwbacks; it’s really about what’s going on in
clubland right now. It’s just future jams..."

B12 Records - Volume 2 (00:00 - 00:00)

B12 Records - Volume 2

B12 Records
have announced plans to re-open their archives as part of a seven
volume series which will include every track ever released on the label
between 1990 and 2007.

The 98 track "Archive" series will compile every rare vinyl EP and
limited CD bonus track all fully digitally re-mastered, as well as 27
previously unreleased bonus tracks put out by the label, which was run
by Mike Golding and Steve Rutter.

Volume 1 collects the first two releases on B12 Records,
catalogue numbers B1201, (originally released on vinyl September 1991)
and B1202 (released January 1992). These first two EP's introduce
Golding and Rutter, whose early work under the name B12 represents the roots of British techno.

CD1 contains the Musicology EP, which includes "Telephone 529" and "Obsessed," two tracks later included on the Warp album Electro Soma,
while CD2 sees Golding and Rutter's music take on an obsession for
outer space and futuristic time travel. Both contain unreleased bonus
tracks.

CD1 of Volume 2, meanwhile, showcases the talents of other
producers. Rare debut work from Zee Sharp (Matt Cogger), Future/Past
and As One (Kirk Degiorgio) is on tap, with the second disc presenting
Golding and Rutter once again—this time under the name Musicology. It
was this later incarnation that first captured the attention of Warp
Records. The lead track, "Premonition" later appeared on the first Artificial Intelligence compilation, which launched the notorious series.
